Shuttle Bus from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 or Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport

If you need to change / transfer from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 or from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at Incheon International Airport, you have two transportation options:
  1. AREX Train (KRW900 one way)
  2. Shuttle Bus (FREE. Read more below)

Free Shuttle Bus from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 or Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport

Incheon International Airport offer free shuttle bus for passengers to transfer from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 or Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at an interval of every 5 minutes. Therefore, you do not have to worry if you have connecting flights departing from a different Terminal. The bus journey is approximately 15-20 minutes as the distance between the two terminal is only 6.4km. Even if you don't have a connecting flight at Terminal 2, you can also take the free shuttle bus from Terminal 1 to visit the elegant Terminal 2 for free if you have free time at the airport.

Bus Stop Location for Shuttle Bus Connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2

From Terminal 1 to Terminal 2

  • If you take the shuttle bus from Terminal 1 (old terminal) the bus stop location is located at Gate 8 Terminal 1, 3rd Floor

From Terminal 2 to Terminal 1

  • If you take the shuttle bus from Terminal 2 (new terminal), the bus stop location is located between Gate 4 & 5 of Terminal 2, 3rd Floor.

Other than the shuttle bus connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, also other shuttle buses available at the old Terminal 1 are also extended to the new Terminal 2.  

AREX Train Between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport

How to go from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 or from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport? Can you walk? No. They are 6.4km apart.

Take AREX Train Between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport

With the opening of the new Terminal 2 building of Incheon International Airport, the Airport Express (AREX) Train has extended its service to cover both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the airport.
You can take the AREX Train from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 (Or Terminal 2 to Terminal 1) at a fare of KRW600. The ticket can be purchased at the AREX station of either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. Note that if you want to take AREX to downtown Seoul Station, please  go here).

Other way to go from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport

Is there other way? Yes, you can also take the FREE shuttle bus connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Incheon Airport if you do not want to pay for the AREX train service. The shuttle bus service is also very convenient because there is a bus departing every 5 minutes. Terminal 1 - List of Airlines that will Continue to Depart and Arrive at Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport

When the new terminal, Terminal 2 officially opened on 18 Jan 2018, only four airlines (Korean Air, Delta, Air France and KLM) will operate at the new Terminal 2 building upon opening.

The new Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 are conveniently connected through shuttle bus every 5 minutes. Therefore, if you need to go from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, you can take the shuttle for quick transfer from or to the new Terminal 2. Please note that all limousine bus, airport railway and taxi services available for Terminal 1 will remain the same and but they are extended to the new Terminal 2 too. 

Terminal 2 - List of Airlines Departing and Arriving at 2nd Terminal of Incheon International Airport

Finally, it has been confirmed that the 2nd Terminal of Incheon International Airport will officially open on Thursday, 18 January 2018.

Airlines that will Arrive and Depart from Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport.

Upon opening on 18 January 2018, only the following airlines will arrive and depart from the new Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport:

  1. KOREAN AIR arrives and departs from Terminal 2 Incheon International Airport
  2. Delta Air Lines arrives and departs from Terminal 2 Incheon International Airport
  3. Air France arrives and departs from Terminal 2 Incheon International Airport
  4. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines arrives and departs from Terminal 2 Incheon International Airport
This means that all other airlines will continue to operate at Terminal 1 (including ASIANA AIRLINES) until further notice. You are advised to check the airport / airline website regularly for updates. 

If your connecting flight at Incheon Airport is operating at different terminals, do not worry. You can take a shuttle bus from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 or Terminal 2 to Terminal. The bus will depart every 5 minutes from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport. 

Please note that all limousine bus services from Terminal 1 (old terminal) will also be available at Terminal 2 (new terminal) to take passengers from Terminal 2 to downtown Seoul (Myeongdong, HongdaeGangnam and other parts of the city) and other regions (such as Busan, Pyeongchang). 

Bus from Incheon Airport to High 1 Resort, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do

With the arrival of November, ski and snowboarding season is going to start very soon in Korea. As the highest ski and snowboarding resort in Korea, High 1 offers the purest and thickest natural snow on its slopes for the best skiing and snowboarding experience for beginners and expert alike. Here is only one problem, High 1 Resort is located in Sabuk-eup, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, which is 4 hours of drive from Incheon Airport.

Fortunately, there is a bus that you can take to go from Incheon Airport to High1 Resort in Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do.
  • Taebaek Bus - Take the Taebaek Bus at Incheon Airport to Shigohan Terminal (Gohan Station) near High1 Resort. Then take the High1 Free Shuttle bus from Gohan Station to High1 Resort. (Bus Ticket Fare: KRW36,900 = approx. USD$32).

There are four Taebaek buses from departing from Incheon International Airport everyday from 1st Floor Arrival Terminal 1, at Bus Stop 9C and also the new Terminal 2. The departure time of Taebaek Bus at Incheon Airport is as below:
Bus Depature: 9:30am (arriving at SinGohan Terminal at about 2:00pm)
Bus Depature: 1:30pm (arriving at SinGohan Terminal at about 6:00pm)
Bus Depature: 3:30pm (arriving at SinGohan Terminal at about 8:00pm)
Bus Depature: 7:30pm (arriving at SinGohan Terminal at about 1:00am)
Note that the bus trip from Incheon Airport will take about 4 to 4.5 hours. The one way bus ticket fare is 36,900won and can be bought at the bus ticket counter in the Incheon Airport arrival hall.  On its way to SinGohan Terminal (Gohan Station),
Taebaek Bus will stop at Gimpo Airport, Jecheon, Youngwol. After Gohan Station, this bus will go to its final destination which is Taebaek.
Upon arriving at SinGohan Terminal (Gohan Station), you just need to take the free shuttle bus to High1 Resort. The free shuttle bus (Northbound) will stop at various part of High1 Resort including Valley Condo, Hill Condo, Hotel Casino Convention, Eondeok Parking Lot, Mountain Condo F and Mountain Ski House, The free shuttle bus (Southbound) from Gohan Station will stop at High1 Casino Convention Entrance and High1 Hotel.
If you are staying at High1 Hotel, just take the Southbound free shuttle bus from Gohan Station to the hotel. The journey is only about 10 minutes. Don't worry about having to wait for the bus because there will be one free shuttle bus departing from Gohan Station every 2 minutes to 5 minutes. This free shuttle bus between Gohan Station and the hotel operates from 6am in the morning to 1am after midnight.

How to Take Bus from Incheon Airport to High1 Resort?

In summary, just take the Taebaek Bus at Incheon Airport to Gohan Station (Singohan Terminal). The bus trip will cost 39,600Won and take about 4 hours. Upon arrival at Gohan Station, you can take the free shuttle bus operated by High1 Resort to go to High1 Hotel or other destination in the resort, including Mountain Ski House and the Casino. Even though the total trip time could take up to 4.5 hours, it is worth it when you arrive at the beautiful High1 Resort from Incheon Airport. The skiing and snowboarding experience here is regarded as by many Koreans as the best in the country. While other resorts nearer to Seoul which are lower in altitude rely on man-made snow, High1 Resort enjoy thick natural snow on the slopes, which reduces the chance of injury. Furthermore, you can also take the same Taebaek Bus from Gohan Station to Incheon Airport after enjoying your skiing and snowboarding holiday in High1 Resort. If you want to return to Seoul instead of Incheon Airport after your stay at High1 Resort, there are also buses going from High1 Resort in Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do to Seoul instead of Incheon Airport.

Taxi from Incheon Airport to Hongdae (Hongik University Station)

Taking taxi from Incheon International Airport to Hongdae (Hongik University Station) is not as expensive as going to Seoul downtown because Hongdae is actually nearer to Incheon.

If you are taking a regular taxi at Inchoen Airport, the taxi fare or price to Hongdae is approximately KRW55,000 (KRW= Korea Won) for a flat rate medium taxi based on the information from Incheon Airport website. A regular taxi in Korea can take up to four passengers. If you are travelling in group of four, the average charge per person is less than KRW14,000. 

Where to take taxi at Incheon Airport to go to Hongdae

After arriving at Incheon Airport and cleared border check and baggage collection, just proceed to the taxi stand outside the passenger terminal, which is located just opposite Gate 6, at Taxi Stand 6C

Bus 6002 vs All-Stop-Train vs Taxi from Incheon Airport to Hongdae

If you take Bus 6002 from Incheon Airport to go to Hongdae (Hongik University Station), it will cost you only KRW10,000. The time taken is about 50 minutes. Taxi is slightly faster than bus because it does not have to stop at bus stops and can take you to the door step of your destination. The All-Stop-Train from Incheon Airport is the cheapest because the train ticket from Incheon Airport to Hongdae is only KRW4,050 and the time is also slightly faster or similar compared to bus and taxi. However, if you do not stay at hotels near Hongik University Station at Hongdae such as  Hongdae Housetay Guesthouse 2 or Orange Guesthouse Hongdae or going to Hongik University, Hongik University Street, then you may need to walk or take taxi to your final destination after arriving at Hongdae from Incheon via bus or train. So taxi is still be most convenient way to go to Hongdae from Incheon Airport if you have a lot of baggages or are travelling with young children or elderly family members.
